The Pawns are Dwarfs! In all that he did in the service of the temple of God and in his efforts to follow God’s laws and commands, Hezekiah sought his God wholeheartedly. 2 Cron.31:21 Our new church home is full of talented people. Kelly is our organist; but Kelsey and Candy also play. Ray is a true wood craftsman. Ben made state in band this year. Norma directs the choir, which has about 20% of the congregation that participate; the list goes on and on. I want to tell the story of a man named Darrell. We had an auction at church as a fundraiser. Darrell left the room, and his wife told us that he had made a chess board, but did not think that it was good enough for the auction. Only the board was done so far; the bidding began and I got it! Darrell told me that he would make the pieces whatever I wanted them to be. This was a tough choice; University of Kentucky VS Purdue; north VS south; then it came to me. The characters of ‘The Lord of the Rings;” was what stuck in my head. I adjourned to my office, sketching out a chess board, and putting names to pieces on each side; both white and black knights, rooks, and bishops. The white king and queen were the easiest; Aragorn and Arwen. After spending a few minutes getting a grasp on this idea, I went back into the auction and got with Darrell. I told him what I had come up with; he just smiled and said one word; cool. Darrell went home and began to research his new project, or should I say our project. Everything from finding many sights on the internet to looking at Duncan’s LOTR Stratego board. From then on every time I saw him at church we looked like the two kids that we once were, just having put baseball cards on the spokes on our bikes to make them sound like motorcycles, and riding off as fast as we could. He is putting his heart into this project. I have told customers often that I work for Jesus; I just get my paycheck from Lowe’s. I challenge you to approach everything you do the way that Darrell is approaching the chess board; by doing it the very best he can. What better way to glorify God than to give your best in everything you do. To sign the Father’s name to what you do is the best way to do as Jesus did!
