Harvest TimeHarvest Time
He said to them,” The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Luke 10:2
I have written many times about working in retail. Quite often, the best thing about retail is the customers. However they can also be the biggest headache about working retail. I had one of those days yesterday. The customers who pushed my buttons yesterday were on the phone, not actually in the store. There was a man who called me and was in a hurry to have some items special ordered. He told me that the order would be faxed in the next few minutes. He asked me not to go to lunch until after I had looked over his list, and had a total for all stock items as well as special orders. About three hours later he called me and told me the list was on the way, he had just then faxed it. He wanted me to work him up a quote and call him right back. I began to work on it, and found that the manufacture did not make some of the items he requested. I called him right back and his secretary said he had stepped out the door and would be right back in to call me back. The whole time I was dealing with this man, I was also working with a lady on the phone also. She had seen a light on the internet and wanted to know the dimensions of the ceiling hardware. I asked her where the light was going to be hung, and the purpose of this new light. I had a couple of in stock lights that would work for her, and suggested them to her. She was happy with the one she saw on line, so I told her that I would research the light in question. I had to make phone calls to the distributor to find out who manufactured the light. I called her back with a question for her, and then continued to make calls for her. When the day was over, I had gotten all the information she needed. I told her if she would give me her credit card information, I would order the light. She told me that she was going to order it on line, and hung up on me. We do not lead anyone into a relationship with Christ. All that we do is to introduce others to our Savior. Just like with this lady, I was only one part of getting her light ordered. We are all farmers, or as Christ said, fishers of men. I was told long ago that eleven people will talk to you about Christ before you consider getting to know Him. I challenge you to be one of the eleven to everyone you meet. That is who I am; that is who we are all called to be!
